A shared approach

Research meets practice

Returning to the written sources is central to the collaboration.

Some of the most important insights into the Yijing come from returning to the original Chinese texts. But understanding how a method developed is only part of the work: it also has to become meaningful when someone actually uses it.

Harmen Mesker and Johannes Bloemsma have known each other for many years. Their collaboration grows from a shared interest in the Yi and a complementary way of working. Harmen concentrates on the language, history and sources of the Zhouyi and Wenwang Gua. Johannes brings that knowledge into practical interpretation, teaching and work with real questions and cases.

Together, they aim to connect careful study of the original material with a method that students can understand, test and use for themselves.
